Teaching philosophy

Nowadays more than ever before human beings around the world can be in contact instantly with internet and other electronic devices. Similar to this, transportation increases the speed with which we move from one place to another. It is easier now to talk with people living in other countries either via technology or in person. It is important for people to learn a second or third language to stay on track with these changes in communication. For me it is encouraging to teach a foreign language to contribute to this communication development. Because I am a native speaker of a foreign language Spanish, I can contribute with my expertise to the learning process of individuals who want to learn this particular language. It is important that these individuals receive an effective education in this language in the area of speaking, listening, writing, and reading in order to stay on top of the new communication trends around the world.
Learning any foreign language is useful in many ways in everyday life because now we are living in a globalized world. We have more access now than ever to get in contact with people from different countries. Not only regarding business and pleasure, but also regarding altruistic activities. By learning a different language we can get closer to other cultures and traditions. Communicating in the same language, facilitates the understanding of different cultures; their rituals, beliefs, and religions are a few of the areas where speaking in the same language increases mutual understanding.
The role of the teacher is to create a safe environment for the student and to enhance the learning process. Another role of the teacher is to be prepared with material and knowledge of the foreign language, and to be able to deliver the message effectively as well. The student's role is to be prepared to acquire the new language. Students need to understand that they are learning a new language and they need to be prepared to practice new vocabulary and apply it in conversation practice in and outside the classroom. Students' minds need to be taught to integrate new information and to distinguish and compare the information acquired since birth.
My vision and goals to teach a second language is to provide students with the information and tools that the students need. My goals are to be an enthusiastic thorough and optimistic teacher and to help my students become more knowledgeable of grammar construction, cultural aspect that comes with learning a second language. As a language teacher, my mission is to help develop this potential in my students in order for them to achieve success in their academic, professional and personal lives. As a teacher it is important to be familiar with and be prepared to offer many strategies to facilitate students to learn. Those strategies can aid students to stay organized and following on task classroom management strategies, as a teacher, I seek to be involved in group tasks. I will have to articulate for each student’ a specific task. In addition, I plan to create an atmosphere with constant student interaction. Each activity I plan provides opportunities to learn with others.
As a teacher I will advocate to learn Spanish language in different ways and target different sections of the educational system. Firstly, I will incorporate research that emphasizes the benefits that individuals receive from acquiring a second language. Second, I will write proposals to different education centers to incorporate foreign language into their curriculum. Third, I will work with different international organizations to offer travel opportunities to different countries for students to practice their second language. Lastly, technology offers one more advantage to incorporate different venues to learn a foreign language; technological resources can be used in the classroom and outside the classroom alike and I will increase with a wide variety of language-learning options, specially to students are eager to learn. The incorporation of these four aspects and many others could be a good plan to advocate for foreign language learning.
